LIGHTING ACADEMY 2005: the educational program

To learn how to design light.

Also this year the Lighting Academy educational program, promoted by the Targetti Foundation, offers extremely interesting opportunities to study and to experiment in the lighting field. There will be two editions of the Basic interior lighting course, a must in the Italian world of lighting education that has introduced to lighting design and technology hundreds of students and young professionals. The basic courses last four days and provide the essential information for a more aware and effective use of light. The teaching is done in cooperation with the Istituto Nazionale di Ottica Applicata, universities, members of the major professional lighting design associations, and professionals from Italian and international lighting companies.

Not to be missed the international courses:

the “Designing Architectural Lighting” workshop with Harald Hofmann, three days studying all aspects of architectural lighting: from the science of vision to the design of light in the space. Harald Hofmann, one of the major lighting expert, is professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the Darmstadt Institute of Technology and coordinator of research in Optical Technologies under the federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany. The “Retail lighting” workshop with Ron Harwood and Kenneth Nisch, a unique opportunity to study the fundamental role of light in retail spaces through the development of a lighting concept for some well known international retailers. Ron Harwood is Chairman and Founder of Illuminatine Concepts: one of the largest American firms specialised in lighting and multi-media design; IC is able to create retail captivating environments and dynamic atmospheres that build a strong brand awareness; between its clients: BMW, Nike, Disney, Calvin Klein, NBC. Kenneth Nisch, a registered architect, is Chairman of JGA, one of the American leading retail design, brand strategy and architectural firm; between its clients are: Brookstone, Godiva, Jaguar, Origins, Philip Morris, Saks Department Store Group.
