The Targetti Light Art Collection, the most important European Collection of Light Art, is still growing thanks to new light works commisioned to some famous artists from all over the world, whose luminous installations are linked by the common denominator of artificial light used as an expressive tool. The great news of this year is the entry in the Collection of a light work created by Fabrizio Plessi, one of the most influential European video artists. Plessi combines a fascination with materiality, stemming from the tradition of Italian Arte Povera, with an interest in video, experimental media, and site-specific installation. All of Plessi's monumental and baroque installations capture forces such as water and fire and juxtapose them with elements of the built environment in an attempt to question our ideas about history, memory, and landscapes both constructed and natural. For the Light Art Collection Plessi conceived a work where reality and virtuality juxtapose and where the role is played by the artificial light as an expressive tool. The light becomes substance through a tube of neon located on the upper part of the installation and its digital shape, visible on the lower part.
This light work will be presented for the first time in November, during the TLAC Exhibition at Mak in Wien.
