Targetti and Stratimirovic at the Light Edu Symposium with Color WheelsThe work of light art inspired by Colour Theory will be on display in Timisoara from 3 to 5 October at the symposium dedicated to the lighting industry. The three day event will see the participation of the lighting designer Aleksandra Stratimirovic who, along with Athanassios Danilof, designed the original installation exclusively for Targetti.
14 September 2016 - Targetti takes Color Wheels to the Light Edu Symposium that will be held in Romania from 3 to 5 October as part of the Biennale of Architecture in Timisoara (Beta). This work is the result of the creative flair of lighting designers Alessandra Stratimirovic and Athanassios Danilof which was put together in the Targetti workshop using Led Durastrip (RGBW) by Duralamp, a company brand.
Color Wheels is made up of three luminous “wheels” that generate numerous, unexpected chromatic effects thus offering insights into the sensorial and perceptive aspects of light and colour. The visual experience is stimulated by creating successive brightness, hue and saturation hierarchies that are reflected on each circle, while the perceptual process is activated by an attempt to investigate colour harmonies and analogies as well as complimentary, simultaneous and sequential colour contrasts and chromatic afterimages. In short it explores the theme of visual perception and its ability to change over time inspired by numerous attempts throughout the course of history by artists, scientists and scholars to organise colour and understand it essence. An emblematic example of this is the so-called Colour Wheel with its various interpretations.
Stratimirovic explains:”The Light Edu Symposium in my opinion is a valuable opportunity to share the experience that I have gained through creating various lighting installations on an urban scale. Light is usually perceived as an intangible tool but it can also be considered a powerful means to design and “create” with. The process that goes from the idea to artistic vision right up to the completed lighting installation must fulfil many requirements, limitations and responsibilities. Despite this it is an extremely exciting creative path. In Timisoara I will share a few public art projects that were recently completed where I used light as the main instrument of expression. I am sure this will be a stimulating and rewarding opportunity.”
The Light Edu Symposium, which focuses on the “Right to light”- the right to specialise on lighting issues to improve the experience of space by studying light –, is the ideal occasion to show Color Wheels. The symposium will be an opportunity to exchange views on an international level with experts from the world of architecture, lighting designers and operators in the lighting industry.
