Constructed on the request of Prince Hans-Adam I of Liechtenstein, who commissioned the Italian architect Domenico Martinelli for the project, the Stadpalais Liechtenstein was the first Baroque building in Vienna, situated in the immediate area of the very central Ringstrasse. A renovation project which lasted for five years restored the palace to its original splendour, recovering the decorations and plasterwork of the monumental staircase and the splendid areas on the various floors of the building.
Michael and Iris Podgorschek, from the PodPod Design studio, were engaged to follow the illumination for the project, both with regards to highlighting the most important architectural details and to relamping, with a widespread use of latest-generation LED light sources.
Targetti contributed to both internal and external lighting, including the building’s elegant entrance courtyard. Here for example, small LED projectors from the PICO and NANO PYROS series have been employed, placed on the pilasters to highlight the architecture and in particular the arches. Functional lighting is provided by PY-QUAD, a compact professional unit which can be discretely incorporated into even the most delicate of contexts. The capacity to uniformly illuminate floors is in fact guaranteed by its floor washer optics.
