On the 3 May, the SL Gallery in New York and Targetti hosted the inauguration of the “Light Art” exhibition, that will be on display until the 15 June at the Gallery on 335 West 38th St, New York City. With this exhibition Targetti returns to centre stage in the American city that is the symbol of modernity and avant-garde excellence, the “city that never sleeps”. The exceptional location just a stone’s throw from Times Square the beating heart of Manhattan, is a prime showcase for carefully selected pieces from the Targetti Light Art Collection, a one-of-a-kind collection of unique works of art.
The collection promoted and conceived by the then President Paolo Targetti uses light as a primary means of expression to show how technological innovations are not exclusively useful for practical purposes but can result in artistic expression.
The inauguration event was attended by lighting designers and architects from the New York area and great interest in the exhibition was also shown by students from the Parson School of Design in New York.
The SL Gallery, a modern art gallery established by Bill Schwinghammer in 2017 to provide an open space to display works by contemporary artists, is an ideal location to bring the Targetti Light Art Collection back to New York where the collection was already displayed in the past at the Chelsea Art Museum.
