Fresh produce and simple dishes are among the secrets to the success of Italian cuisine around the world. They are also the “ingredients” at Vapiano, a German restaurant chain specialised in culinary specialities from the Old Country.
Philippe Collet from Abraxas Concept designed the lighting project for the latest restaurant that opened in Paris on the Champs Elysées, by calling on Targetti to help highlight all the different furniture and décor elements through the use of light. Natural materials, neutral colours, spices and Mediterranean plants on the tables and the walls, combine to create a casual and friendly atmosphere dominated by the open kitchen and a large olive tree.
To light the first Parisian Vapiano restaurant – more than 1300 metres squared over three floors– Collet used both the fixed and adjustable versions of small Targetti CCT LED Mini downlights for direct lighting, wall washer for more atmospheric lighting and trimless and with decorative rings depending on the context.
The overall effect, despite the latest LED technology that is used in the CCT fixtures range is extremely natural and pleasant and in-keeping with the designer’s idea to create the illusion of dining in the open air. Soft, uniform light is everywhere, even to enhance the fresh produce that is one of the undisputed reasons why the restaurant is such a hit.
