Museo Aperto Antonio Asturi
City: Vico Equense (NA)
Country: Italy
Architectural Design: Valentina Autiero
Stimulating a dialogue between the administration and citizens, reducing cultural and social barriers that limit the knowledge of art to just a few people: this is the objective of the Museo Aperto Antonio Asturi (The Antonio Asturi Open Museum) in Vico Equense. This is not a traditional museum but an exhibition itinerary distributed around the Town Hall where paintings and personal belongings of the master are freely accessible to citizens “to support a new notion of urbanity”.
The brainchild of the architect Valentina Autiero, the project chooses an emotional reading of the works on display that are exhibited in every part of the building even in those that are freely open to the public, without following any hierarchical or temporal logic of any kind. Light plays a fundamental role in all this by creating the right atmosphere for both the use of space and interpreting the work of Asturi.
The large hall dedicated entirely to the master with a large central space and small side rooms becomes a town square surrounded by porticos to emphasize the project’s “urban” concept. The general lighting of the central part is done using low luminance recessed LED solutions from the CCTLED Architectural Mini range with WFL optics to obtain a uniform effect over the wooden floor. Controlled light is perfectly distributed that does not create mandatory exhibition routes but leaves the viewer the possibility to choose where to go according to their emotions.
To light the works on display on the other hand recessed extractable projectors were chosen from the CLOUD Mini range that make it possible to light vertical surfaces while maintaining minimum visual impact to create wide and soft lighting to allow for a free reading of the works on display, without any particular accent or emphasis.
