Photo: Ivan RossiThe new showroom in Florence of the Zappieri group – a leading company in the field of research and distribution of large brands in the fashion sector – has found a home in the completely refurbished charming former post Office warehouse. The new space is part of a larger refurbishment and redevelopment project of the old general storehouses, a kind of customs house in nineteenth century Florence that have been brought back to life through the project by the architect Pino Brugellis with the collaboration of Marco Lastrucci and the enlightened patronage of Magazzini Generali spa, who wanted to redevelop most of the buildings to create a pole of creativity and fashion in the suburbs of the city.
On the outside the Zappieri showroom still has the appearance of a postal warehouse, it is inside that its identity has changed while still maintaining its architectural features. A double height open space enhanced by a “total white” effect and a double/pitched roof with visible beams and iron trusses: all rigorously painted white. The image is that of a “neutralised” space that can adapt to any use. A kind of theatre with a large stage consisting of a mezzanine level that can assume different configurations and divides the space into two levels.
The light follows this theatrical and changeable vocation theme. The lighting system is made up of tracks fitted with projectors that are hidden along the side of the beams, a preference that was dictated by the possibility to move and adjust them according to different needs; the LEDÒ projectors that were chosen have various optics from spot to wide flood to create different light effects and to enhance the theatricality of the location; The LED lamps in the LEDÒ fixtures are Ra97 high colour rendering to faithfully reproduce the colours of the clothes on display. Even the lighting system is completely white to integrate perfectly with the surrounding space.
The result is a work space that is both charming and elegant at the same time in line with the image of all the other showrooms of the Zappieri brand.
