The Dedalo Minosse International Prize for commissioning a building awards ceremony was held on October 31. An event that focuses on the processes of planning and commissioning projects which can sometimes be underestimated when talking about architecture and its fundamental role with architects and planners.
The strength of the Dedalo Minosse Prize lies in the fact that, as well as awarding successful architects for their work, it also promotes and recognises up and coming names in the field. This highlights the role of social enrichment that is played by the client commissioning the project by promoting work by young architects who will be future assets to the community. This year, as well as honouring big names such as Odile Decq, Peter Eisenmann, Park Associati, Cino Zucchi, Paul de Ruiter, Katsfumi Kubota and Labics, young architects in the Under 40 category also received prizes such as Nunzio Gabriele Sciveres and Emmanuelle Moureaux.
The award ceremony was followed by an exhibition of selected projects at Palazzo Valmarana Braga, a simple and ethereal installation that contrasts starkly with the majesty and sumptuousness of this historical Palace. A wooden construction lit by Targetti with state of the art linear LED sources, hidden inside special housings to ensure the lighting fixture is discreet, that have a low energy consumption and a soft light focused on the projects on display.
A series of courses and seminars will follow until November 23 at Palazzo Valmarana Braga, including one specially dedicated to the world of light, “the Language of Light”, that will be held by Targetti on November 18. These events will certainly attract the interest of architects and enthusiasts alike and create opportunities to focus on architecture and its indissoluble relationship with the social space.
